Need for speed: Most Wanted. For the PS Vita.
One of the best console games in 2012. Ported to the Vita. I've been waiting to purchase this game for a good long time and finally I got it. This is one of the few Vita games that will keep fans in anticipation. Criterion Games also said that this is the exact same game as the console version. And they did not disappoint.
At first look, the roads and pavements of the familiar Fairhaven looks scrumptious and delicious, they make you hungry to explore them. By comparing the console version and the portable version of the game, you will realize that the roads are exactly the same. All the curves, highways and underground passages, they are all included in the Vita version. And that is a good thing. The thing that is not quite there, are the visuals. The crispness of the car plates are very clear in the console version. On the other hand, it looks blurry in the Vita version. It may not be easy to see incoming cars in the Vita version, and this can lead to quite a number of crashes. This, at some points of the game, is frustrating. The console version also include dust and dirt stuck on our windscreen but this is absent in the Sony handheld. The only thing that the Vita has is the lighting from the Sun rays, which further stimulates the racing experience in the handheld. Although these are little touches in the game, but added together they provide a more genuine and fun experience. Yet, Vita users are not able to experience it. This is excusable as we are doing an unjust comparison of a console running on power supplied by the socket and a portable handheld that only absorbs it's power from a lithium-ion battery. Overall, the graphics are still considered in the "good" range of the system.
From the first touch of the dual analogs on the Vita till now, I feel that the controls of the Vita feel quite similiar to the console version. Although the Vita is not a dual-shock, the handling and driving of the cars are easy to master. Drifting feels really fluid and smooth, it almost makes us feel that we are really in the vehicle. There are 41 cars for us to choose from, ranging from the Ford Raptor to the fast and furious Lambourghini Aventador. Every car contains five races with different difficulties that each unlock various car mods. There is no clear story in the game, you just have to become Fairhaven's Most Wanted driver. The game's main aim is to make us into Fairhaven most wanted, which is achieved by beating the top 10 most wanted cars, which will take around 10 hours. There are even some Vita-specific races thrown in, which just increases the game's replayability. There are gates and billboards to be smash and some of them are really challenging to find. Body shops and jackspots are still there to help evade the boys in blue. Similarly, the only way to change the cars' colours is by passing through Body Shops. This will also refuel your nitrous, which is an important feature during races and cop chases. The number of police cars has dropped considerably, only when you reach one of the highest heat levels, real heat will then suffice. Engines can still be shut down and started, although the doors cannot be open. This will be a really cool feature as car doors such as the Aventador's and the Pagani Huayra's will look really awesome.
Autolog is still there to record your progress. This connects you with your friends in a never-before world. Especially on a handheld too. This makes you want to go back and beat those multi-player races. Again. And again. Billboards will hold faces of your friends that smashed through it at a higher speed, this only makes you angrier and wanting to smash it at a much faster speed. It is a really effective method. There are tons of replayability in the game, partly because it can be brought anywhere now.
Overall, Most Wanted on the PS Vita is a good addition to my games collection. It undoubtedly provide me with a fun gaming experience, I am still playing it now. Due to the massively connected multiplayer platform. Therefore, I am giving it an 8.0/10
